Sign Design Tips

Graphic design is not all about artistic skill. Many different things from personal taste to raw talent can play a large role in the design. There are a few guidelines to follow, and even the lesser artistic types can come up with a excellent sign. We have custom design tools on our website where you can create an excellent sign following these guidelines.

  • Choose colors that do not blend together. Try not to choose tone-on-tone variations because these will sacrifice readability. Try to use yellow/black, yellow/green, black/white or any similar combination. You can also choose white with any dark color.
  • Choose the correct shape of the sign for better readability. If you are using long rows of text try to pick a more rectangular sign.
  • Do not try to squeeze to much information onto a sign. Keep it short and to the point to give it better readability.
  • Try to add graphics, colors, and borders to the sign to give it more of a professional look and feel.
  • Make sure everything is aligned correctly.
